The Muddy Chef Challenge is an off-road driving and cooking contest. The cooking challenge is vehicle-based – meaning participants can only cook from the foods and materials they brought in their Land Rover. The food event is perhaps the most exciting part of the Muddy Chef Challenge weekend as participants go all out. From stuffed crepes to Birmabright hand rolled gnocchi, this is a take no prisoners challenge. One thing we constantly hear from competitors is “we had no idea the competition would be so fierce” Trust us – whatever you plan to cook, you need to go ALL OUT to have a chance at victory.
NOTE TO PROFESSIONAL CHEFS:
It is very likely that you will get annihilated by amateur competitors. Annihilated is probably an understatement – you will be destroyed. Since inception of the Muddy Chef in 2008 many professionals have entered the competition and most have been defeated. So on that note, we say BRING IT! to any and all professional cooks.
The event is divided into three categories. Participants must compete in at least TWO events in order to qualify for glory, bragging rights, the grand prize, and a fabulous cash prize of almost .68 cents in loose change. All kidding aside, there are tons of prizes and awards from our sponsors.
Competitors are encouraged to pair their offerings with an appropriate cocktail or beverage. Last year competitors paired their dishes with Thomas Tew Rum, Hillrock Estate Bourbon, Tito’s Vodka, Harpoon Beer and craft offerings from Stony Creek Brewery.
